This Thursday we will finish our series Birds and Bees with a talk on singleness. I hope everyone is able to make it to (sola)s, but I know some of you will be headed home for fall break. If you aren’t able to make it but you would still like to listen to the talk, we will be uploading it to the website under the downloads section. The last two talks (dating and marriage) are also available to download and/or listen.

Next Thursday we embark on a new 6 week series that will take us through the first 6 chapters of Daniel. I know that all of you eschatology buffs are disappointed we’re not going to dig into the prophecy portion of the book, but we’re not…deal with it. Actually, a 6 week series gets us near the end of the semester and the narrative portion of this book has some amazing truths in it that will make for a great study. We’ve titled the series “Living in Exile,” because the book of Daniel accounts the story of a young Hebrew guy and his friends living under Babylonian rule. What is amazing is that as you study this book, you will find that in so many ways the story of Daniel parallels where we find ourselves in the 21st century. As we try to live godly lives on campus and in the community, we can look to Daniel and see how he lived godly in a secular culture.

Don’t forget to check out the DOWNLOADS page each week for (sola)s sermons.
After each (sola)s we will be posting the sermon recording on the DOWNLOADS page for the entire semester. Go ahead and download “Dating and Relationships” and “Sex and Marriage” to listen in the car while you drive home during Fall Break.

We are embarking on a new semester, and I want to give you guys an idea of where we are heading for the next two months.
On August 27th we are kicking off our Thursday night gatherings at the activities center (for directions, click on the “directions” tab above and follow the directions to the east campus – 1508 Hardy St.).
After our initial gathering, we are starting off the semester with a 6 week series we’re calling “birds and bees.” That’s right, you guessed it: six weeks about what it means to be human, to be male or female, and to be created for relationships. We’re going to deal with sex and dating, comparing secular culture’s view to Scripture’s view.
We’re not going to leave much off limits, so this should be pretty interesting. I think this series could be really productive, but I’ll warn you, it’s also going to be potentially offensive…The Bible has a way of getting up in our grill and exposing some mess in our lives.
